New realities for construction: The comprehensive spending review

 

Challenges and opportunities have emerged for construction from the Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR), here we highlight ways the sector must respond positively.

 

To gauge industry reaction to the CSR, PwC in conjunction with Pinsent Masons set out to discuss the new realities for construction in a series of executive roundtables during November 2010.

 

While there are considerable challenges lying ahead including inevitable casualties arising from the recession and reduced capital spending, many believe that the CSR may act as a positive spur for change.

 

By focussing urgent attention on a number of long-term barriers to achieving greater efficiency, many in the industry are optimistic. However, that optimism is tempered with an acknowledgment that only those businesses that are able to drive innovation and change are likely to prosper.
