We’re known as practical strategists. We can draw on an unrivalled mix of global capabilities to make our strategies work.

Our approach to strategy is based on 100 years of advice and starts with the premise that a few differentiating capabilities drive identity and success. We help our clients identify and build those capabilities, and deliver value by developing and executing winning strategies based on them.

Global reach

Because we’re supported by the strength and scale of the PwC network, it gives us a unique opportunity to drive even greater impact for  our clients.

Working with our international and global portfolio of clients means we often need to draw on our deep region-specific expertise to solve cross-border issues. It’s the close collaboration with our extensive worldwide network that allows us to develop strategies at a global level, as well as provide local insights – both of which are incredibly valuable to our clients.

Industry expertise

We differentiate ourselves through our extensive industry expertise that spans a wide range of sectors. By joining us, you’ll have the opportunity to work across, and learn from experts in:

  • Retail, Consumer and Leisure
  • ‚ Technology, Media and Communications
  • ‚ Energy, Utility, Mining and Infrastructure
  • ‚ Industrial Products and Business Services
  • ‚ Financial Services
  • ‚ Health Industries and Public Sector

Making a difference

We’re involved in some really exciting projects to build a more sustainable future. We actively undertake pro-bono work, and help our people dedicate time for social causes. Through the PwC network we also actively support the  social enterprise, ‘Brigade’, which aims to  equip the vulnerable and homeless with skills and qualifications.

We’ll accelerate your future.

Joining us means challenging yourself with work that’s difficult and complex, but also rewarding and fun. You’ll join as a Graduate Associate and be the cornerstone of the team. You’ll work with great people and learn fast.

We’ll expect you to have an entrepreneurial mind, challenge conventional assumptions and spark thoughtful debate. This is one of the best ways we know to come up with fresher, smarter answers to our clients’ toughest problems.

Training & Learning

You’ll get comprehensive training which will help you develop key strategy consulting skills. This is also a great opportunity to get to know your peers and the wider team, and build relationships from the start.

Develop & Grow

From day one you’ll work on challenging and varied strategic assignments. We’ll make sure you continue to maximise your potential by leveraging world-class learning and development programmes that give you continuous support while you learn on-the-job and develop your personal strengths.

Culture & Teamwork

We thrive in our collaborative culture. We work shoulder-to-shoulder, in close-knit, high-performing teams, and with our clients, to get the job done. It’s an approach that reinforces trust and strengthens our reputation for professionalism, but with lots of fun along the way. Our project-based work means we get to know each other well and creates a powerful, collegiate atmosphere, which will give you the opportunity to build lifelong relationships with inspiring people.

Social & Fun

What’s more, our sports teams, charitable initiatives and various team events including project dinners, away days and weekly after-work socials, mean that you will get plenty of opportunities to grow your network in an environment that is ambitious and stimulating, but also supportive and fun.

Coaching & Support

From the start, you’ll be paired with a senior career coach and a peer who will be your ‘buddy’. Their role is invaluable, as they help you get to know our team and help put you onto the right projects to improve your skills and develop. They’ll share their wisdom and unique perspectives, acting as first points of contact and providing first-hand advice on anything  and everything.

Feedback & Performance

Receiving ongoing ‘in the moment’ feedback is part of our culture, and this is complemented by our formal appraisal process, which is based on feedback from people across all grades and who are familiar with your work.

Career & Progression

Fast-paced learning and our flat structure means that you’ll be expected to fully contribute, and that your opinion will count, from your very first day. You’ll have the opportunity to progress quickly, and within your first few years with us you’ll gain confidence, experience, and skills you’ll value throughout your entire career.

International work & Secondments

You’ll have plenty of opportunities to gain international experience through global projects or secondments to our offices worldwide. We’ve recently sent consultants to New York, San Francisco, Singapore, Hong Kong, Melbourne, and Dubai on secondments ranging from six months to two years.

Our teams tackle diverse, complex, business critical problems for our clients.

Our expertise crosses almost every industry – and when there are shifts and changes in an industry, clients look to us for advice on industry trends and cross industry experience.

We are uniquely placed to deliver lasting value to our clients and win in the market. And that’s why we are the ideal place to accelerate your career and your future.

Our project teams are typically small, with four to six strategy people – this means that you will be given the opportunity and skills to make a real impact and have responsibility from day one.

We also want you to get international experience and exposure, and our London trained strategy consultants are some of the most sought after in the network.

You’ll get the opportunity to work on international projects, and if you’re looking for a more immersive experience, we offer six-month to two-year secondments in over 30 countries on six continents.

Two market-winning teams

We organise ourselves in two market-winning teams – Corporate Strategy and M&A Strategy. We work together to bring the best to our clients, and we offer a unique, powerful, and distinctive combination of capabilities that allows us to develop and deliver world-class strategies.

The two teams share many of the same attributes – fast progression (aim to reach Manager within three years), working in small teams, international opportunities, the chance to do MBAs, and flexible start dates – in September and April. Pay is exactly the same for graduates.  The work mix does however vary between the two teams (see opposite page).

As a graduate we’ll align you to one of our two teams, but you’ll be able to experience working in both, as we often resource projects together, and provide the opportunity to transfer between teams.

Corporate Strategy team

We help our clients plan for and adapt to changes in their industry while exploiting their strengths. In short, we give them the advantage they need from strategy through to execution. You will help clients with everything from strategy development to transformational change, new organisational models, capturing value from their customer and channel strategies, or increasing the effectiveness and resilience of their supply chains. This can be in the context of any big strategic move, including M&A.

For you this means

Working at clients’ offices – you’ll often be with the client in the UK or elsewhere from Monday morning to Thursday afternoon and work in our office on Friday

Projects – will usually be a few weeks or a few months long, giving you time to build relationships and really get into the business

International exposure – we resource projects globally, particularly in Europe, meaning that a project could see you spend a few weeks to a few months in another country.

Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A)  Strategy team

M&A is a fundamental part of how companies seek to win in their markets and we help clients make the right M&A decisions. With us, you’ll get to know a company from the inside out, and combine razor sharp analysis with creative problem-solving. Strategy and M&A go hand in hand, so while a large part of our work relates to assessing companies and markets in the context of a transaction, many of our projects are about developing innovative corporate strategies to help companies grow and become more profitable.

For you this means

Working from London – you’ll do international travel but generally most of your week will be based in our London office

Projects – are typically three to six weeks long, meaning that you’ll do about ten in your first year, broadening your experience

International exposure – in addition to overseas work and other secondment opportunities, our ambition is for most of our graduate joiners to do a six-month secondment in our New York office within their first three years.

We look for a rare combination of razor-sharp intellectual ability, commercial awareness, analytical skills, flexibility, teamwork, and the confidence and credibility to present your opinions to senior clients.

This isn’t a routine 9-to-5 job. Rigour and curiosity are vital if you’re to tackle the issues that keep business leaders up at night. You’ll be highly motivated and ambitious. Someone who is hungry for early responsibility, client interaction, and the opportunity to make a difference from day one.

We also look for people who bring something more to our work than their academic credentials. Like the self-discipline and team-working skills that stem from a sporting background; or leadership qualities gained through work experience. The ability to speak more than one language is another big plus.

There are a number of different ways to find out more about the work we do, discover who we are and the range of opportunities we have. Whether you’re looking to start work, or explore your options whilst you’re at uni – find out more at one of our events, or apply for work experience or a graduate job with us.
