Tax Leader for Retail and Consumer and Northern Leader of Indirect Tax, PwC United Kingdom

Jim is a tax partner and has been with the firm for over 16 years.  He is PwC’s national Tax Leader for Retail and Consumer as well as leading on Indirect tax across the North of England, covering our offices in Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Sheffield and Hull.

Before joining PwC, Jim was the Head of Indirect Tax at Sainsbury’s  and prior to that was Head of Indirect Tax at Gallaher Tobacco.

Jim's deep sector knowledge and experience, gained from working both in industry and practice, gives him a rare understanding of the issues that affect the retail and consumer sector and has provided a strong platform for delivering significant value to clients.  Jim also chairs the Retail VAT Forum, a group of tax experts from over 40 of the UK’s largest retailers.

Jim’s areas of expertise include VAT, Customs & Excise duties, IPT and Environmental Taxes.

Outside of the office Jim is a keen motorcyclist both on the road and on track and also enjoys playing the guitar and golfing.  He is an avid supporter of Burnley Football Club where he has been a season ticket holder for over 30 years.
