In the East Midlands, we are committed to playing a meaningful role wherever
we operate, by developing sustainable partnerships that meet the needs of our
communities and the firm.
Our key focus areas are to raise educational achievement, develop
employability skills and support the social and economic regeneration of inner
cities within areas of acknowledged deprivation. As part of our ongoing support
for schools we partner with a number of organisations, such as: Right to Read,
Young Enterprise, Prince's Trust and businessdynamics. Last year, 298
volunteers across the Midlands gave 4,186 hours of the firm’s time to support
these programmes.
A six strong team from the Midlands practice have been put through their
paces competing in the Men’s Health ‘Survival of the Fittest’ challenge to
raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support.
An intrepid team of cyclists at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in the Midlands
have notched up more than 25 hours of non-stop cycling to raise money for the
Prince’s Trust.
Daniel Weaver, an employee of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in the East
Midlands, has been recognised for his voluntary work at the firm’s annual
Volunteering Excellence Awards.
Volunteers from the East Midlands office swapped their suits and laptops for
overalls and paintbrushes to redecorate the Ladybrooke community centre.
Staff from the East Midlands office went back to the classroom to teach
pupils at Chaucer Junior School in Ilkeston about the world of work.

experience an Enterprise day last month. Five volunteers from the East Midlands
office spent the day at Borrow Wood School, Spondon, helping teach children
about business in a city.

Volunteers from the East Midlands office have completed a reseeding
programme for the allotment garden at Glapton Primary School in Clifton. The
willing helpers replaced three flower beds with fruit and vegetables to assist
crop rotation, which will hopefully prove invaluable for the breakfast club and
its healthy eating programme.

Staff at PricewaterhouseCoopers and members of the newly-formed Nottingham
Rowing Club went head-to-head with the Leicester Tigers in a half marathon
indoor rowing race for charity at their Castle Donington offices.
Four volunteers from PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Birmingham and East Midlands
offices donned their wellies to help school children from St Thomas CE Primary
School, Attwood Green, Birmingham plant young oak and ash trees, under the
careful guidance of staff from leading conservation charity, BTCV.
Helen Rainford, an employee of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in the East
Midlands, has been recognised for her voluntary work by winning an Excellence
Award as part of the firm’s Volunteering Awards Scheme.
