Nottingham’s host city status for England’s 2018 World Cup bid could benefit the region, says PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP

06/01/2010

Nottingham has been confirmed as one of just 12 host cities for England’s 2010 World Cup bid, due to be submitted in May 2010.

The new Nottingham Forest stadium is one of the potential venues for 2018 World Cup matches.

PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) is acting as business adviser for the campaign to host the World Cup 2018 in England. Preliminary economic impact figures have shown that staging the tournament could equate to £3.2bn for the country that submits the winning bid.

Andy Lyon, senior partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in the East Midlands, said:

“This is great news for Nottingham and if England’s bid is successful it could provide a catalyst to attract inward investment and tourism to the region, as well as creating jobs in the run up to 2018.”
