Economic and regulatory uncertainty combined with a continuing difficult funding environment to take total 2009 power deal value back to levels last seen before the M&A boom of 2005-2008. However, the number of deals remained at relatively high levels as companies and investors continued to look for deal opportunities but at smaller deal levels.
