Private Business Awards 2014 – Nominations are open

Nominations are now open for the 2014 Private Business Awards, a national scheme that celebrates the contribution private businesses make to the health of the UK economy.

The Private Business Awards sponsored by PwC, in association with HSBC Private Bank and Ford Sinclair, seek to recognise the most successful companies and individuals in the private sector.

Private businesses across the UK are urged to share their stories by nominating themselves in one or more of the 10 categories, including CEO of the Year, Family Business of the Year, Private Business of the Year and Venture Capital Backed Business of the Year.

Last year’s winners, selected from over 700 nominations, demonstrated the breadth of industries in the private business sector. They included London based Euromonitor, Midlands family business Rigby Group, Ulster Carpet Mills from Northern Ireland and Scottish company BrewDog.

Since the awards were launched in 2010, we have met and interviewed some fantastic examples of high profile and dynamic Private businesses. These companies have been at the forefront in helping our economy to return to growth and our PwC teams across the UK have been inspired by the entrepreneurs they have met throughout the process. In 2014 we’re looking to continue to identify new, innovative and exciting businesses, to celebrate again the success of Private Companies.

Last year’s winners, who were selected from nearly 700 nominations, demonstrated the breadth of industries in the private business world with Euromonitor, who won Private Business of the Year award, sitting alongside Prof. Graham Honeyman, Sheffield Forgemasters Group Ltd., who won the CEO of the Year award.

The 2014 awards will be judged by a panel of senior business people from a selection of leading business leaders, including Angus Thirlwell, Hotel Chocolate, Mark Pears, William Pears Group and Sir Charles Dunstone, Carphonewarehouse.

The nomination period runs from 21 January to 28 February 2014. The deadline for submitting a full entry form is 25 April 2014. The awards shortlist will be announced on 4 June 2014 and the winners of the Private Business Awards will be announced at a gala dinner on 10 September 2014 at The Guildhall, London.
