|
Date: 17/09/2009 - 3pm GMT
Overview: We are pleased to invite you to a PricewaterhouseCoopers tax update webcast for international companies doing business in the UK. The webcast will focus on the latest topical tax issues and what these will mean for your company. The webcast will take place live on Thursday 17 September at 3pm.
During the course of the webcast we will cover the following topics:
Tax transparency and the senior accounting officer
The senior accounting officer (SAO) of a 'large company' will in future have to
take reasonable steps to ensure that the company and each of its subsidiaries
establishes and maintains 'appropriate tax accounting arrangements'. We will
discuss what these new requirements are likely to mean in practice for overseas
parented groups.
The VAT package
The EU VAT package is a series of measures which changes the VAT rules relating
to services, introduces a new VAT reporting obligation for cross border
services and new a process for recovering VAT through the existing
international VAT refund mechanism. As 1 January 2010 is fast approaching, we
will share our experiences of working with companies who are at various stages
of preparing for the changes. We will examine the requirements of the VAT
package and how businesses should prepare to meet them.
Foreign profits
We will review the new dividend exemption and international movement of capital
rules which came into force on 1 July 2009. The dividend exemption rules
potentially provide significant advantages to groups holding foreign companies
under the UK whilst the rules on movements of capital impose new reporting
requirements with regard to certain cross border transactions. In addition we
will briefly look at the debt cap rules due to become effective from 1 January
2010. These rules will require most, if not all, groups to review their current
financing arrangements.
The webcast is scheduled to last for 45 minutes. You will have the opportunity to ask questions to the specialists.
