A selection of publications and thought leadership is available to aerospace and defence companies in the UK. They include:
The fast descent of deal values in A&D spurred by recession and the banking crisis of 2008 continued into 2009 with the first quarter of the year seeing a near-stalling of deal value. Since that time, deal values have revived but small deals continue to dominate the sector's activity. However, deal activity, as measured by the total number of deals, has stayed buoyant at near record levels as companies limit their acquisition budgets but continue to take advantage of opportunities to make small but strategic purchases. Mission Control includes a report on innovation and economic recovery in the sector.
Formerly known as Flying High, Aerospace & Defence Deals*
examines both the rationale behind the overall trends and looks at the key
individual deals. It considers the year under review, the context of the
preceding two years, and ahead to the future direction of deal-making in the
sector.
After flying high in previous years, aerospace and defence (A&D)
deal-making descended fast in 2008. Indeed, the last three months of the year
saw activity virtually dry up as concerns about the financial and economic
background worsened, civil aviation overcapacity fears hardened and the outlook
for defence sector growth remained uncertain.
Economic impact of business aviation in Europe
PwC carried out extensive research into the business aviation sector between May and November 2008, in order to estimate the impact the industry had in 2007 on the European economy. The study also investigated the user benefits associated with business aviation. These included the facilitation of business links with relatively remote regions and the time savings offered by business aviation.
