PricewaterhouseCoopers works with the UK's Department of Health (DoH) on an ongoing basis, tackling pressing issues, such as improving the funding regime to reflect current care objectives.

We have advised the DoH on aligning central government resource accounting and budgeting requirements with the financial accounting regimes of individual trusts, and the introduction of foundation trusts and new diagnostic and treatment centres. At the same time, we advised on managing and meeting quality, performance and other targets throughout the NHS.

Other recent work with the DoH includes: due diligence checks on the first wave of applicants for foundation trust status; development and delivery of the human resources programme, a mentoring programme for the next generation of NHS chief executives, now in its third year of operation; and supporting the diagnostic and treatment centres (ISTC) initiative by analysing and costing the services provided and achieving a thorough understanding of how fund flows affect the health economy at both local and national levels.
