OVERVIEW

About ten years ago PwC decided to look at how compliance work was done. And we decided to specialise our compliance business so we set a specialist compliance centre, a centre of excellence our centre is now on four sites, employs about 125 people and we do about 6,500 tax computations a year.

The centre uses innovative and continually updated technology and processes and that together with the staff we have who have got a lot experience and expertise ensure that we produce a high quality return in line with revenue requirements.

PWC Tax Compliance Centre is basically an extension of your Tax Department. We’re here solely to process your tax compliance issues, and meet all your statutory regulations.

Our service is flexible because it can be tailored to suit the needs of any individual client, in terms of our data collection, in terms of our computation preparation and in terms of the way we’d manage the projects.

Whilst we normally produce electronic tax packs that are specifically tailored for each company we can work with whatever data you wish to provide in order to produce your computation.

QUALITY

All our computations receive a quality control review, a certain percentage of our computations are selected to have a further review.

Our team of reviewers are highly trained and have a lot of experience in the compliance area. They come from many different backgrounds such as HMRC or from industry as well as coming from accountancy firms.

The level of collaboration we have with clients really depends on how we agree to work with them, for example updates and queries can be provided either face to face, by telephone conference call, by email or by written report.

As part of our commitment to quality, communication’s extremely important to us. Our staff will always inform you of the progress of your computations. In addition we have an online collaboration website where you can see the progress of your computations at any time of the day or night in real time.
TECHNOLOGY

Technology plays a vital part in the provision of corporate tax compliance services within PWC. For example all of our work is controlled using a work flow technology. Status reporting feeds off that work flow technology in real time

In addition we’ve developed various tools to help with data capture, one of these is our ledger mapping tool which pulls information up from your accounting records and provides an audit trail all the way from the accounting records through to the return.
Paul Matthews
We have an Excel based tax pack, the XTDO. It is easy to use for clients. We have a group relief planning tool; this enables “what if” scenarios to be performed and the calculations dropped automatically into the tax computations.
