In an independent survey of 1,000 UK adults undertaken on behalf of
PricewaterhouseCoopers in April 2008 we asked questions about consumer
confidence:
53% of individuals felt they would have less money to spend in the coming
months.
If the cost of living continued to rise, 78% said they would most likely to
cut down on unnecessary purchases and live within their means. 8% said
they would raid their savings to support their income and just 7% said they
would use credit to maintain their standard of living.
49% said they were likely to save less money than they were a year
ago. Only 23% thought they would save more.
