UK companies’ desire to reduce or rid their balance sheet of defined benefit (DB) pension liabilities continues to grow with companies employing a number of different exit and liability-reduction strategies, according to new research by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. 

Preliminary findings from the third PwC pension survey, which tracks the opinions of pension decision-makers in 86 UK organisations, show marked increases in the number of respondents ceasing future defined benefits accrual for current members together with growing scheme buyout activity and interest.
