May 2008
Welcome to the fourth edition of the PricewaterhouseCoopers Electricity
& Gas group newsletter.
In this issue we present another selection of articles from our industry
experts, covering a range of topics within the accounting, tax and advisory
arenas. This includes:
- We examine the recent Ofgem announcement to commence a two year review of
the current, RPI-X regime of incentive regulation. We look at the new
challenges this faces and whether the current approach can continue to deliver
in the future.
- With numerous recent well publicised data breaches we take a look at
preventing data compromise and how to ensure that your customers feel that
their personal data is safe in your hands.
- We introduce the PricewaterhouseCoopers Total Tax Contribution Framework.
This has been developed by us to help companies improve transparency around all
of the business taxes they pay. Using feedback from the Hundred Group we
highlight the particular relevance that it can have in the utilities
sector.
- Finally, we launch our Power Deals 2007 Annual Review. This annual
publication monitors mergers and acquisitions activity in the electricity and
gas market in the key regions around the world.
