This report has been compiled by Neil Hampson, with support from Aerospace analysts Felicien Dillard and Mladen Grabovac and written by Flight International magazine.

Key findings

The industry reported continued healthy growth in revenues and operating profits during 2005.
Prime contractors and their Tier 1 partners are returning solid profits, whilst not all Tier 2 and 3 suppliers are turning increased sales into higher earnings.
Better performers have shown their ability to sustain margins over the period.
Private equity is still strong in the sector.
