Focus on delivery

Non Departmental Public Bodies (NDPBs) and Executive Agencies are vital to the development, regulation and delivery of public services. This survey contains the views of nearly 100 Chief Executives of NDPBs and agencies on the challenges they face and what is being done to meet them.

A number of critical areas are emerging for the consideration of the Boards of these organisations:

• Managing competing priorities through sophisticated arrangements to balance the needs of internal and external stakeholders and a better understanding of inputs, cost and impact
• Improving internal quality and reducing cost by sharing services, especially in internal audit, IT procurement and facilities management
• Ensuring delivery when they are in an influencing or commissioning role, through creation of sound Programme and Governance arrangements, excellent monitoring of output quality and creating a culture of continuous improvements
