The third edition of CEO Perspectives in FPP summarises the thoughts of 33 CEOs from the forest, paper & non-paper packaging sectors around the world on key issues facing the industry.  

The economic crisis exacerbated existing market declines and precipitated steep drops in demand in many companies in the sector.  It’s clear the FPP industry needs to reshape itself to meet future challenges – but how?

Interview findings indicate the need for:

  • Further industry consolidation
  • Reducing capacity and refining business models
  • Reducing costs, increasing process innovation and efficient use of raw materials
  • Positioning FPP as a sustainable industry – getting the most value from every tree
  • Capitalising on new revenue streams through alternative uses of fibre and biomass
