by Philip Bloomfield and Quentin Cole

12 November 2009

The global economic downturn, the state of the public finances, uncertainty around future funding levels and priorities, and the risk that the sector will be targeted for spending cuts is increasing the possibility that some Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) will face greater financial challenges.

'Weathering the Storm - Coping with financial challenge in the higher education sector'  examines the financial position of the sector going into the downturn, explores a potential financial scenario, and considers applicable lessons from other organisations that have successfully faced and dealt with economic challenge.

'Talking Points' is a series of opinion pieces produced by PwC's Public Sector Research Centre.
