In December 2008, Credit Agricole, HSBC, Munich Re, Standard Chartered Bank and Swiss Re adopted the Climate Principles, an initiative led by The Climate Group.  The Climate Principles is the first framework that provides a universal approach to tackling the key climate change risks and opportunities facing the finance sector.

This report, prepared by PricewaterhouseCoopers on behalf of The Climate Group, looks at how adopting institutions are fulfilling their commitments to the Climate Principles.  The assessment was based on publicly available information and supported by supplementary interviews with each adopting institution.

PricewaterhouseCoopers looks at the progress made against the Principles, covering the areas of research, asset management, retail banking, corporate and investment banking, project finance and insurance/reinsurance among others, and gives recommendations on key focus areas for the adopting institutions and The Climate Group going forward.
