Stephen is the partner who leads the PwC Tax Investigations business. He spent
15 years in HMRC including spells in Special Compliance Office and the Large
Business Office, joining PwC in 1997. An expert in negotiation and direct tax
enquiry matters, with a first class record of helping clients, Stephen is
referred to in World Tax 2009 as being well known for his competence in dealing
with HMRC.

VAT - Mark Howard
Mark worked for HMRC as a commercial VAT fraud investigator for 12 years before
joining PwC in 1997. Since then he has been involved in all types of civil and
criminal indirect tax investigations across the UK helping clients to deal with
the challenges of these cases.

Matt has been dealing investigations conducted by HMRC's Special Civil
Investigations offices since the late 1990s. Since joining PwC in 2003 Matt has
successfully resolved enquiries for private companies and individuals and has
latterly specialised in advising on the resolution of film partnerships'
enquiries.

Anthony Connelly
Anthony, our Director, represents both corporate and personal tax clients
facing HMRC investigations. Anthony is a skilled negotiator who has many years

Nutbrown
Andrew, our Midlands Director, was a Group Leader in Special Compliance Office
when he left HMRC in 1995. He has extensive experience across all aspects of
