Disputes are unavoidable in today's fast moving, highly regulated business environment. Having sound economic evidence is often essential to ensuring a successful resolution.
Working closely with internal and/or external legal counsel, we provide economic analysis and evidence to support businesses and governments involved in disputes, including formal regulatory, arbitration and litigation proceedings. This includes acting as Expert Witnesses, and preparing reports for submission to the authority, tribunal or court.
We provide advice in two main areas. First, we analyse and quantify market outcomes to identify what would have happened “but-for” the event that caused the dispute. Second, we use our financial economics expertise to provide advice on the calculation of damages.
We tailor our advice to reflect the circumstances and subject of a particular dispute, drawing on our financial and macroeconomic, competition, regulation and industry specialists. In addition we use the expertise of our forensic, valuations and tax disputes teams.
