Get well soon - providing better health outcomes

Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) are currently being collected by the Department of Health for a small number of elective inpatient procedures. These data provide a new insight into the quality of service provision.

We have analysed this data to compare improvements in health status, across NHS and foundation trusts and also with independent sector providers.

Looking at the performance against PROMs measures for a specific procedure, our findings show that independent providers are able to deliver higher quality care, as recorded by patients, and their presence in the local areas benefits other providers.
