PricewaterhouseCoopers 'bolts' to the finish line and takes 1st place in corporate challenge

PwC Manchester's runners

Over 80 employees at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, (PwC) participated in the BUPA Great Manchester 10k run earlier this month.

James Wheeler, a manager in the human resource services team in Manchester, was the fastest PwC runner and came 101st in the overall race, with an impressive time of 36 minutes and 29 seconds, helping the firm secure 1st place in the large business category of the corporate challenge.

James wasn’t alone with his fast time, with a number of the team achieving times in the 39, 40 and 41 minute region, along with many of the team’s runners achieving their personal bests.

Other PwC's participants came from the firm's assurance, advisory, marketing and tax teams based in Manchester and Liverpool.

PwC runners are on target to raise £10,000 through their sponsorship of the 10k for New Children’s hospital, the firm’s North West’s nominated annual charity.

Nick Boden, senior partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in the North West commented:

“This year we had a team over 80 runners from all parts of the business who have trained hard over the last few months, including team training runs before and after work. It is a great achievement for the firm and the winning team to take 1st place in the corporate challenge, large business category and for the team’s sponsorship to help make a difference to the New Children’s hospital appeal.”

Following the race, the firm provided refreshments for their team and clients at Bar 38 for well-deserved drinks and a buffet.
