PwC Milton Keynes get in the swim

PwC Milton Keynes get in the swim

Twelve staff members at the Milton Keynes office took part in the World Swim Against Malaria to raise money for the fight against malaria – a disease that kills 3,000 children a day. This was one of ten events organised by PricewaterhouseCoopers around the country, in support of the national charity Against Malaria.

These events were kicked off by three members of the UK board swimming across the Serpentine in April.  Led by Andy Groves, senior partner in Milton Keynes, the team swam more than 20,000 metres, raising more than £580.  This will provide 223 life-saving mosquito nets. To date, the firm has raised enough money to purchase over 19,000 nets.

Chris Lewindon, one of the swimmers and associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Milton Keynes, says:

“The money raised will be used to purchase bednets to protect children and families from insect bites in malaria risk areas. Malaria kills more children and pregnant women than any other disease and this can be stopped by using a net. It’s such a simple solution and easy for everyone to get involved.

“Everyone really enjoyed taking part.  It was great to know what a difference we’ll make.”
