After graduating from the University of Leeds, Neil gained over 13 years industry experience managing network information security at a FTSE100 company. Following this he spent seven years in professional services, developing and managing an Information security service team. Neil joined PwC at the beginning of 2008 as a Senior manager in the Midlands Information security team, covering the Birmingham, East Midlands and Milton Keynes offices.
His role is to help clients protect themselves against information security risks to protect their data and reputation. He works with a wide variety of clients in the public and private sector and is also a UK government approved security consultant.
He comments, “Many companies and organisations do not fully understand the sensitivity of the data they hold, how it is handled, stored and moved internally and externally, as well as who can access it. This lack of understanding has led to a number of recent high profile incidents where valuable and sensitive data has been compromised.”
The team, part of Risk assurance services have experienced and qualified individuals, covering data compromise, information security governance and policy, technical IT security reviews, penetration testing, application security testing, and network design and management.
Neil is married to Liz and has a teenage son (Tom) and ten year old daughter (Katie). An aging cat and two goldfish complete the outfit! Neil is a keen photographer, sea angler and a life long Baggies (West Bromwich Albion) supporter. He also has a passion for Natural History especially insects, which has resulted in regular appearances on BBC Radio together with an appearance on BBC2.
