Although, economic and political conditions remain challenging across Europe, the outlook for Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) is more optimistic than we’ve seen for a long time. The value of IPOs in Europe increased by more than seven-fold year on year in the fourth quarter of 2012, making it the strongest performance since the third quarter of 2011. Overall 70 IPOs raised €7.5bn in the fourth quarter of 2012 compared with 78 IPOs raising €0.9bn in the same period in 2011. The recent changes announced by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) are the biggest reform to the UK executive pay landscape in over a decade. But we're not alone in facing change to the way we pay senior executives - executive remuneration is hitting the headlines on both sides of the Atlantic. In 2010 the Dodd-Frank Act brought about changes to US executive pay and there are several comparisons that can be drawn between pay regimes in the UK and the US. Some of the changes in the BIS announcement have already been implemented in the US, for example the shareholder vote on say on pay and applying clawback across all sectors.
