Developing new forms of funding for housing associations

April 2008

As major owners of assets, housing associations play a major role in the delivery of Government’s housing policy.  But new thinking on new ways to deliver new funding is necessary if housing associations are to bring about a step-change in creating more prosperous, mixed communities and affordable housing.

Developing new forms of funding for housing associations explores the funding considerations that follow from two major policy challenges: need for more affordable housing and the additional demands being placed on housing associations; and mixed communities, where the legacy created by mono-tenure estates are now acting as a constraint on the economic and social cohesion of our communities.
