Hey ho, Hey ho, it’s off to Belfast we go… that’s the chorus as PwC's 24th annual pantomime leaves London’s West End and heads for Belfast’s historic Grand Opera House.
Produced, directed, performed and crewed by 200 PwC staff volunteers, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs starts it’s run at Sadler’s Wells Peacock Theatre on Wednesday 27. But Snow White will make PwC and panto history by play four shows in Belfast from Thursday 11th to Saturday 13th February.
Around 4,000 youngsters from selected Northern Ireland schools and childrens’ charities will get a spectacular theatrical experience, free of charge, thanks to the PwC panto players, backed by support and logistics from leading local companies. Most of the school and charity seats are already filled with the few remaining public seats selling fast.
The show plays each year on a professional West End stage and one tour destination but it’s the first time the production has come to Ireland. From actuaries and tax advisors to accountants and IT consultants, the entire production - actors, dancers, chorus, and costume design to make-up, lighting and sound, backstage crew and even the orchestra – comprises PwC staff and alumni.
PwC Northern Ireland managing partner, Hugh Crossey, says the annual PwC panto represents much more than escapism for accountants. “The entire purpose of the production is to offer children who might not otherwise experience pantomime and those with special needs, a great day out. Its PwC’s way of putting something back into the community and I’m delighted that we could persuade our colleagues in the London production team to bring the entire production to Belfast.”
There may be a few public seats left. Go to the Grand Opera House box office here to book.
