Achim Bauer
Achim is charged with leading our Strategic Advisory Proposition for the insurance sector in the UK and Continental Europe and for the reinsurance sector globally. His industry and advisory expertise is primarily in the European Insurance/ Reinsurance space. In addition, Achim is a member of our Solvency II Steering Committee focused on the strategic implications of Solvency II on the industry.
Prior to his role at PwC, Achim worked for Chase/JPMorgan, Swiss Re, leading their non traditional, commercial and specialty lines business and lately was an executive director and shareholder in a successful start-up platform in the commercial insurance intermediary & risk analytics sector.
Key experience:
- Strategy, corporate finance, capital & risk structuring expertise through a variety of advisory and execution assignments acting for leading European insurance companies and global reinsurers.
- Developed, implemented and led a transformational client centric direct distribution strategy for a leading global reinsurer in the non traditional insurance/reinsurance space.
- Developed and led a run-off proposition for a global reinsurer in the areas of motor, workers compensation, long tail legacy exposures.
- Advised a European credit & surety insurer on business development strategies.
- Assisted a global multiline insurance company on the wholesale strategy, supporting business model/capital & risk framework.
- Advised a group of leading insurers/reinsurers on a consolidation strategy for their industrial line platforms.
- Advised a global reinsurer on "risk warehousing" strategies and underlying u/w and risk management frameworks.
- Advised on distribution strategies, the respective adaptation of business models and processes in the insurance, reinsurance and private banking/financial advisory sector.
