Profile: Brian Lochead
Brian is a BRS Partner who specialises in assisting troubled corporates instabilising crisis situations and implementing plans to rebuild value. He is experienced at managing multi-disciplined teams on large and complexmulti-national transactions, including re-financing and re-structuringprojects. Prior to rejoining PwC in 2000, he spent 10 years running distressedbusinesses across Europe.
Highlights of Brian's experience include:
- Advised and assisted the Board of a €100 m turnover European consumer goodsmanufacturer in implementing turnaround plans. This included a number ofdiverse work streams ranging from input into a financial re-structuring plan,to the definition of business units and a new management reportingapproach.
- Advising the Board of a $1.6bn turnover UK-based global conglomeratethrough a complex financial and operational restructuring. Lead advisory rolein renegotiating $1.3bn of indebtedness. Workstreams included the developmentof a revised business plan and the evaluation of different restructuringscenarios.
- Advising the Board of UK based £150 million freight business inrenegotiating its senior and junior debt (ca. £100m) following a period ofunderperformance and a covenant breach. This assignment also involved thedevelopment of a number of cost reduction and performance improvementworkstreams to enhance the Group's profitability.
- Advising a UK manufacturer on an innovative solution for dealing withsignificant long-tail liabilities by restructuring the business through aScheme of Arrangement approved by current and potential future creditors.
