Dan is the leader of the 900-strong UK Business Recovery Services team and he has been involved with company restructurings and insolvency work since 1990. 

His recent assignments include the insolvencies of various Lehman companies and Independent Insurance.  Dan is particularly focused on providing innovative, tailored solutions to solvent companies faced with long-tail liabilities and is the scheme of arrangement advisor to over 100 insurance companies bringing finality or certainty to their latent liabilities. 

One of Dan’s recent solvent restructuring cases was the groundbreaking scheme of arrangement for Cape Plc which has protected the industrial services company against the financial risk posed by future uncertain asbestos liabilities and he also acted for New Star Asset Managers in their restructuring.

The complex insolvency and restructuring assignments Dan has led have involved billions of pounds of liabilities and have required extensive management of various stakeholder groups including the general public, regulators, compensation scheme authorities and investors.  The main focus on these assignments is claims assessment and agreement in the “normal course” as well as through innovative solutions such as schemes of arrangement. 

Dan is a member of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and the International Association of Insurance Receivers.  He also has a Masters in Business Administration.
