Exporting for Growth: A national challenge

We are working with UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) initiative to help Britain's small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) boost their export sales and help non-exporters enter export markets for the first time. The UKTI is about to begin a tour of the UK with a series of regional events bringing advice and expertise to help SMEs play their part in reversing the decline in UK’s share of global exports over the last decade from 5.3% in 2000 to 4.1% in 2010.

Supported by us and HSBC The National Export Challenge events, will also give SMEs a chance to hear direct from the Trade and Investment Minister, Lord Green, as to how important export is to lifting the UK out of the worst economic crisis in living history and what the UKTI and Government are doing the help them overcome any barriers they might have.

Regional awards

Alongside the events, SMEs are also encouraged to enter the ‘Exporting for Growth’ prize. The prize will be awarded to the SME with the best exporting idea and is open now to all SMEs with an entry deadline of 31^st January 2012. We will give the winner from each each region of the UK real practical advice helping them to make their exporting aims a reality.
