Scotland hosts inaugural Global Financial Services Week

Between 26 and 30 May, Scotland played host to the inaugural Global Financial Services Week. A number of key events brought together senior financial industry figures and international experts, and showcased the strength and depth of the financial sector to stakeholders in Scotland, the rest of the UK and the international markets.

The week was promoted through a number of high profile events and we made our contribution by holding a Scottish Banking Forum, in conjunction with the Chartered Institute of Bankers Scotland, in Glasgow on 27 May which discussed the PricewaterhouseCoopers Global Private Banking / Wealth Management Survey. We also held an Insurance & Investment Management Club in our Edinburgh office on May 28 on the topic of Insurance for the Facebook Generation.

We were also a sponsor of the Scotsman Newspaper’s supplement where Lindsay Gardiner, Head of Financial Services PricewaterhouseCoopers Scotland, was interviewed on the Investment Management industry in Scotland.

The centrepiece of the week’s events was the Global Financial Services Conference in Edinburgh on 29 May which involved some of the world’s most respected experts in international finance. They examined Scotland’s place in the world economy, discussed emerging markets in China, other Asian markets and Russia, and highlight the challenges and opportunities faced in maintaining Scotland’s strong position in the global financial industry.
