Prospects: a review of mid-tier oil & gas 2008

We are pleased to announce the launch of a new piece of thought leadership from the mid-tier oil and gas team. This new publication provides an insight into the aggregated performance of the mid-tier oil and gas industry, as represented by 50 of the largest listed companies outside the FTSE 100, including both oil and gas producers and oil equipment, service and distribution companies within the companies selected.

Key findings of the report include:

• A 50% increase in aggregate market capitalisation of the sector to US$80.1bn (£40.2bn)
• Revenues increased by 32%
• Companies reporting a pre-tax profit of US$12.5 billion - a massive increase from the previous year's US$8.7 billion pre-tax profit.
• A reduction in financing activities, with net cash inflow down 35% to US$5.4 billion
• An emerging trend towards consolidation in the market place.
