Tim Price

Winner: Young Consultant of the Year

I joined the graduate programme 4 years ago, somewhat sceptical of pursuing a career in Consulting. I previously worked as a professional sports coach. Given my passion about helping individuals and teams to achieve their goals I’ve found my natural home in the Operational Performance Improvement team.

I work in a wide range of environments from the front office of wealth management firms to the wards and operating theatres of NHS hospitals, where I have really found my niche. Over the last 18 months I have been working with, and supporting struggling NHS trusts in a challenging health economy to transform their operations and deliver improved patient outcomes, financial stability and make them a better place to work. I am proud to say that I have delivered genuine transformational results for my clients, including:

  • 18% increase in theatre activity, equivalent to c.2,500 more patients being treated each year
  • In the words of the CEO, a “culture shift we haven’t seen before in the Trust”
  • 13% reduction in average length of stay, improving patient experience, creating bed capacity for the most acutely unwell patients.

"I previously worked as a professional sports coach so given my passion about helping individuals and teams to achieve their goals I’ve found my natural home in the Operational Performance Improvement team."

Francesca Wolfe

Shortlisted: Performance Improvement Consultant of the Year

Before becoming a consultant I started professional life at Marks & Spencer. I quickly took to the operations side of the business that looks at placing people at the heart of performance improvement, rather than processes and analytics. I believe that being an authentic leader can get you to the top. I personally want to be a role model, and think the financial services industry that I specialise in could benefit from more female leaders.

I am proud to say that, in the last two years I have delivered six performance management programmes where tangible results for our clients were seen in the first weeks of the programme, and I was able to take clients on a personal change journey. For one of my recent pieces of work that looked at delivering a performance management solution for a client, I coached the team through the new approach and in two weeks I delivered a 12% productivity improvement that led to 23% productivity improvement for the programme overall.

The passion for people has been the cornerstone of my success at PwC, and has allowed me to form skills such as process design, behavioural change and capacity management amongst others.

Shyam Radia

Shortlisted: Young Consultant of the Year

I’ve grown up in a big Indian family, which I believe has shaped a lot of who I am as a person. Watching my father run his business, I always had a passion for learning how business works and Consulting seemed like a natural home that allowed me to explore new things, set new boundaries and develop my career as a management consultant. I have a restorative personality by nature which partly comes from my mother’s tendency of always comparing me to my cousins, so I always push myself to do things better and differently.

As such, I thrive on identifying issues and challenges in the business, and how I can apply my analytical mind-set to make things better. Being a millennial, I am surrounded by the latest technology, apps and games that help me turn my thinking into real results for my clients.

I mostly work with my clients on transformation programmes and deploying ‘Perform’, a PwC methodology that looks at increasing productivity in the teams and can realise significant cost savings for the clients.

Going forward, I am excited by what the Consulting industry holds and that I get to be part of it, as I believe the shape of traditional consulting is changing – one can even say it is becoming ‘ Consulting in beta’.

"I have a restorative personality by nature which partly comes from my mother’s tendency of always comparing me to my cousins, so I always push myself to do things better and differently."
