The Independent Public Service Pensions Commission

The structure and purpose of public service pensions has been reviewed by the Independent Public Service Pensions Commission (IPSPC) - What will the Commission’s recommendations mean for you?

In June 2010 John Hutton (Lord Hutton of Furness) was asked by the Government to lead a review of public service pensions provision. The Independent Public Service Pensions Commission (IPSPC) has reviewed the structure and purpose of public service pensions and launched its final report on 10th March 2011.

PwC has worked closely with the Commission since its inception, with a particular focus on implementation of reforms.

The report recommends major changes to the way that pensions are structured and delivered to millions of public sector workers. The implications are huge - for the public sector, for businesses that work with the public sector (particularly those who transfer staff) and also for those organisations that were previously in the public sector and still have many staff with legacy pension arrangements.

On Thursday 10th March our specialists hosted a live webcast, focusing on the path from policy to implementation. Click here to view a recording of the session.

PwC’s dedicated webpages contain analysis of the key issues and some practical advice for those considering what to do next.

We hope you find our information and insights helpful, as you consider how best to implement the upcoming major reforms to public service pensions.
