A record 91 companies took part in the survey providing data on all their UK taxes borne and collected. This year’s survey looks at payments in these companies’ accounting periods ended in the year to 31 March 2011. Through the surveys an extensive bank of data has been built up which shows how UK tax payments by these companies have changed over time, affected by changes in tax rates and regulations and by the economic cycle.
The last three surveys have spanned a difficult period for the global economy including the UK. The 2009 survey saw the start of the global financial crisis, the 2010 survey covered a period of economic recession and this 2011 survey sees some evidence of economic recovery.
