Investment appraisal - case studies

Example A - UK Government

A Government Department was designing a new scheme from scratch to provide support to those in financial distress. They required appropriate reporting  on the new scheme to assess its performance, manage its development and respond to queries from ministers.

Working with the system designers and major stakeholders, we designed, specified and assisted with the production of the extensive Management Information. This also required interacting with the participating lending organisations to understand the data available and corresponding metrics which could be produced.

The reporting function was delivered on time, enabling the scheme performance to be understood at a number of levels. This ranged from providing data to econometric analysts, to answering queries from Government Ministers.

Example B - International coffee shop franchise

We worked with the Finance team to help them redevelop their international store investment appraisal process.  Historically, our client had no consistent method to determine its level of investment and location choices.  With the significant levels of future expansion planned, the development team required an internationally uniform method to assess the individual sites and associated roll-out plan.

This was achieved by standardising the approach and criteria relating to the level of investment and location choices worldwide.  This allowed the investment of limited funds to be targeted at the most profitable locations whilst also putting the necessary incentivisation in place for franchisees.

We helped them put in place a process (supported by robust tools) that could be universally applied, supported robust dialogue with the franchisees and would enable swift and evidence based decision making.
