Water

It’s a critical time for the UK water industry. In the short term, companies are working to deliver and outperform against their Asset Management Plan for 2010-15/Periodic review of the water industry 2009 (AMP5/PR09) regulatory targets, which include stretching efficiency and customer service improvement plans and multi-billion pound capital expenditure programmes, and successfully managing the transfer of private sewers.

In the longer term, the industry faces challenges from population growth, climate change and water scarcity. The proposals in the Government's recent Water White Paper and Ofwat's Future Price Limits project seek to deal with these challenges and are likely to lead to upstream and retail market reform, a relaxation of the restrictive merger regime and potentially industry re-organisation and consolidation. The industry's attention will soon turn to the development of business plans for the Periodic review of the water industry 2014 (PR14) and the Asset Management Plan for 2015-20 (AMP6).

  • Provide regulatory, financial and internal assurance over your external reporting to Ofwat, investors and other stakeholders, and your internal programmes of work
