PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP has been awarded the CommunityMark in recognition of the firm's "pioneering" commitment to and activities in communities where the firm has a presence throughout the UK. In addition, the firm's community partners recognised PricewaterhouseCoopers as being best in class in community programmes.
One of only 21 companies to achieve the award, the new national standard, developed by Business in the Community (BiTC), recognises companies that are deemed the best investors in their communities. To achieve the award, PricewaterhouseCoopers had to pass a rigorous, independent assessment of how the firm invests in and works with their local communities, including scrutiny by their employees and community partners.
Receiving the award at a ceremony at 10 Downing Street, Ian Powell, UK chairman and senior partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, said:
''I'm delighted we have been recognised as a UK pioneer in our commitment to the community. Our people are the pioneers, as they have delivered our commitments and helped us build sustainable partnerships in communities across the country.
"Our community programmes offers us the opportunity to share our skills in a different setting from our regular jobs - challenging us on a personal, and professional level. That's not a commitment we take lightly and this award demonstrates the success of our approach and strength of our sustainability programme."
