Inclusion at PwC

We’re committed to building a culture of inclusion that empowers all of our people to thrive and feel a sense of belonging at PwC

At PwC, we’re all different.

To solve important problems we need to aim for the inclusion of our diverse talent and empower our people to use their creativity, authenticity and human differences to be the champions of change. We know that when people from diverse backgrounds and with different points of view work together, we create the most value - for our clients, our people and our society.

Everyday Inclusion

Everyday Inclusion is the things we do, the way we behave and how we interact with each other on a daily basis that supports our culture and behaviours to be a truly inclusive environment. We recognise that our people are our biggest strength and creating an inclusive workplace where everyone feels comfortable bringing their whole self to work is integral to who we are and how we operate. We can only produce our best and highest quality work when we build a workforce made up of talented people with a breadth of experiences, who can bring innovation and fresh perspectives and feel empowered to celebrate their differences within a safe and respectful environment.

Everyday Inclusion

Whether it's working from home, a colleague asking if you're okay or someone taking the time to get to know you, it's the little things that make our people feel included everyday. Everyday Inclusion at PwC is focussed on our people coming together and creating an inclusive culture. Watch our short 'I feel included'

Our inclusion networks

We know networking contributes to personal and professional fulfilment and success. That's why we have eleven inclusion networks. Each network has specific objectives tailored to its membership. But all of them share the aim of providing a sense of community, inspiring and supporting diverse talent and raising awareness of diversity within our firm and to create a genuinely inclusive culture.

  • Our 5 faith networks - Christian network, Hindu network, Jewish network, Muslim network, Sikh network.
  • Black Network - To celebrate unique aspects of Black Culture and positively impact PwC's inclusion journey by promoting the talents, skills, and views of Black employees. Open to everyone to come together and learn from each other.
  • DAWN - Disability AWareness Network - DAWN is for everyone, whether you're affected personally, support a colleague or relative.
  • East & South-east Asian Network - Bringing together colleagues who are from East and South-East Asia, have family history or trace their ancestry to the region and also those who have an interest in the region and its culture - it welcomes everyone.
  • Gender Balance - Gender Balance brings people together in conversation on gender and equality; to share experience, learn, and create valuable change
  • Military Network - For those with past or present military service to use their experience and personal networks to benefit both our clients and the firm.
  • Shine - Shine is an inclusive business network for LGBTQ+ people, allies and supporters.
  • Social Mobility Network - Our Social Mobility Network is a community of Social Mobility Champions who take an active role by participating in training, organising and speaking at events to increase the impact that the firms’ social mobility approach can have locally.
  • South Asian Network - Bringing together those who trace their ancestry to South Asia (countries like Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Pakistan, Sri Lanka etc), or anyone with an interest in learning more.
  • SPACE - Supporting, Parents, Carers, & Everyone - Creating SPACE so that work sits comfortably alongside our other interests and responsibilities.

As well as a breadth of national networks, we also have lots of more informal initiatives to help you get involved with our community. You’ll be able to find out more about where you could make a real difference when you join us.

How do we support our people?

Achieving a culture of inclusion requires inclusive leaders, who get the best out of all their people, helping their organisations to succeed in today’s complex national and global environments. With their ability to be self-aware and open-minded, they proactively create a culture in which difference is valued. Our five point action plan sets out the steps we’re taking to promote diversity and inclusion across the firm and the areas we’re focusing on for the greatest impact.

Being ColourBrave at PwC

ColourBrave is an integral part of our firmwide inclusion strategy and was launched in 2018 in response to feedback from our ethnic minority colleagues. It’s our campaign to encourage conversations about race and culture at PwC. Being ColourBrave is all about being respectfully curious about the experiences of others, and being bold and brave enough to step forward and have those conversations to support our awareness and understanding. Our network of ColourBrave advocates and champions play an important role in creating an inclusive workplace, where everyone feels valued and respected. It is one of the actions we are taking to support racial equality at PwC.

Other actions we are taking to support our Black and ethnic minority colleagues include:

  1. Established a Staff Diversity Council (adding to our existing Partner Diversity Council
  2. Launched new unconscious bias and racial awareness training
  3. Targeted wellbeing support
  4. Increasing our support for Black led social enterprises
  5. Identifying charities we should be working with through our ColourBrave Charity Committee

Spotlight on ethnicity

This year we hosted focus groups to discuss ethnicity in the workplace with our people

Everyday flexibility

In an ever-changing and agile world, we understand the importance of empowering you to be able to work in a way that works for our clients, our teams and you personally. We want to embed a culture and set of values that support different ways of working to make sure we’re staying relevant in the workforce of tomorrow - which is why we’ve introduced Everyday Flexibility.

Everyday Flexibility enables us to deliver our best work whilst maintaining a balance between our professional and personal lives. Everyday Flexibility demonstrates our support for informal, day-to-day flexible working. It’s the freedom to choose how, when, and where you work, in a way that suits your day and your priorities.

Dress for your day

To support our flexible work environment we’ve evolved our dress code policy to "dress for your day". This policy reflects the trust we have in our employees to decide what they think is appropriate given their daily responsibilities.
