I joined the PwC Augment team in August 2016 with an MSc in Applied Finance, MSc Management from Ulster University and a BSc in Mathematics from Queen’s University, Belfast. After graduating, I knew I wanted to pursue a career that guaranteed variety, the opportunity to experience new challenges and the chance to apply my technical skills I developed at university. After doing some research on PwC Augment, I knew it would offer me exactly that.
When I joined as an Analyst I was put to work straight away on meaningful, impactful projects. My first client was one of the world’s largest investment banks and I continue to work with them to this day. Like my clients, my day-to-day responsibilities are varied. Although it depends on the client and industry they operate in, some of the key aspects of my role includes Know Your Customer (KYC).
Due Diligence and Quality Control (QC). This means we support our clients to identify and verify the identity of their customers for risk and regulatory purposes in line with quality procedures. This could be an individual or a large multi-national firm, the customer variation is endless so it’s important that our work and communication style is tailored to each client.
Recently, I was promoted to Quality Controller (QC). Now I’m responsible for overseeing all of the information we research and present is correct and accurate according to quality standards. I’ve also taken on more responsibility in other areas, such as organising meetings, online training and feedback sessions.
I've even had the opportunity to get involved in business pitch exercises where we interact with the prospective clients to give them a taste of what PwC has to offer.
What I’m most proud of is the fact that I came into this role with little technical financial knowledge. PwC Augment has provided me with the opportunity to learn as I go and it’s been pivotal for my future career aspirations. The adjustment into the role was easy as we receive so much support from all levels. The culture was also a big pull for me and so far it hasn’t disappointed. Hard work is always appreciated so there’s lots of opportunities for the team to develop particularly as we’re growing so rapidly.
