PwC Channel Islands in Guernsey is located in the heart of St Peter Port, the island's capital and financial services centre. This small, dynamic office has over 100 staff, including eight partners and directors, and over 40 trainees. The open culture of the Guernsey office revolves very much around continuous development, coaching and quality, not forgetting a firm emphasis on enjoying work.
Many of our people are not from the Channel Islands - because Guernsey is a renowned offshore financial services centre, we attract finance professionals from around the world, including PwC people on secondment from firms in our global network, including Southern and East Africa, Australia, Scandinavia, South and South East Asia, the Far East and North America.
We provide Assurance, Advisory and Tax services to a wide variety of high-profile clients within all sectors of the financial services industry, including investment management, insurance, banking and real estate.
As well as delivering exceptional services and expertise to our clients, we help our people to strike a healthy work-life balance. Our active social committee organises monthly events, from local cliff walks to the annual summer and Christmas dinners, outdoor theatre evenings, golf and sailing days and day-trips to France and neighbouring islands. We have a range of sporting teams, including five-a-side football, playing in local leagues. On top of this, many of the client teams socialise regularly, particularly after a hard day working in the office.
Our people can also choose to get involved in helping the local community through our volunteering programme. This year, we supported the World Swim Against Malaria, with a team from the office swimming the equivalent distance to nearby Herm in the island's outdoor sea pool. We also run a number of sporting schools of excellence, providing funding for coaching, equipment and match-play opportunities for young people who show promise in cricket, hockey and netball.
PwC sponsors and attends fundraising dinners, and sponsors local charities and celebrity sporting events, while staff who have given their own time and effort to raise money for causes personally close to their hearts have the monies they raise matched by the firm. Other voluntary initiatives that staff get involved with include Young Enterprise and a woodland re-generation scheme with the National Trust.
