All our people need to demonstrate the skills and behaviours that support us in delivering our business strategy.

This is important to the work we do for our business, and our clients. These skills and behaviours make up our global leadership framework, the PwC professional. The precise details of each stage will vary according to where you want to work, but the focus throughout will be on the qualities you need to do well. Having the right academic results is only part of it.

3rd party providers of assessment support

We are aware that there are providers selling guidance and assistance on how to complete our recruitment assessments. We have no relationship with and do not endorse any of those providers. Our PwC Careers page offers access to hints and tips on our process, opportunities to sign up to events to find out more and talk to our recruiters. We encourage applicants to use these channels available. 

Candidate professional conduct

We take candidate professional conduct very seriously. This means we undertake periodic reviews of candidate applications to identify activity we believe undermines the integrity of our recruitment process. This includes, but is not limited to, comparing candidate video interview responses, assessing if transcripts are identical and proactively looking for duplicate accounts across our systems. Where we find evidence of undermining our recruitment processes, you will/may be disqualify(ied) from our recruitment process. 

6 month re-apply rule

You are restricted to one application at a time with student recruitment. In addition, we’ll only consider one application from you every six months (i.e. 6 months from the date you submitted your previous application). For these purposes, the definition of an 'application' includes any roles that you have been made an offer for. Therefore if you have been offered / accepted a role, you cannot apply to another vacancy. Please do take the time to check that you're able to make a new application to us now. Our employees act with honesty and integrity so we expect the same from you. If you already work at PwC, please ensure that you have contacted the student recruitment team to discuss your application before you proceed. We take any attempts to circumvent this policy very seriously.

Our selection process

  • Apply online

    The first thing you'll need to do is research our opportunities available to you and apply to a job.

    Try our Career Matching Tool. It takes into account your work preferences to help match you to a suitable business area. When you’ve decided on the area you’d like to apply to, do lots of research. It’s important you’re able to explain why you selected the business area and the value it creates for our clients. If professional qualification study is needed, make sure you understand how much time you may need to invest.

  • Career valuation - our situational judgement test

    Once you’ve applied to a role, your first assessment will be our online Immersive Job Preview Assessment. Often termed as a Situational Judgement Test. You’ll watch video scenarios of what it's like to work with us and be prompted to answer questions that have been designed to help us evaluate your suitability to the role and our company culture.

  • Career unlocked - our game based assessment

    Next stage will be a series of Games-based Psychometric Assessments that measure your cognitive skills and behavioural preferences. We’ll be looking at your numerical and abstract reasoning abilities and natural behavioural preferences. For instance, how you overcome challenges, how you work towards goals and how you make decisions.

  • Career conversation - our interview

    The penultimate stage of our process is a video assessment. Here you’ll need to record your response to a range of questions and case studies. They bring to life the range of work we do and what it’s like working with us. This is your opportunity to tell us why you're interested in a career with us. You can prepare in advance by thinking about the behaviours and skills we’re looking for by visiting "the skills we look for" page.

    The video interviewing platform we use may include automated decision-making by applying an artificial intelligence algorithm. After you’ve recorded your video interview responses, the algorithm evaluates your answers by studying your video responses by using a voice and facial assessment algorithm to provide a fair and objective score recommendation. Applicants with high recommended scores will progress directly to the next stage, whilst the video interviews of all other applicants will be subjected to human review to determine whether they should progress or not. The algorithm has been designed and tested to be objective, and to focus on the things that are important to the particular job role you’ve applied to. It has been, and continues to be, tested for bias related to gender, ethnicity, and age. Read more about our use of automated decision-making in our recruitment privacy statement.

  • Career focus - our assessment day

    The final stage of our recruitment process is an immersive assessment day we call ‘Career Focus’. It brings together everything you’ve learnt about us so far as an immersive ‘day in the life’ experience. You’ll work in groups and individually, on a variety of case studies that help you learn even more about the work we do.

    Due to current restrictions on face to face meetings, PwC are using virtual tools to assess candidates. You will be invited to an online virtual face to face interview. Our employability hub can help you prepare for the interview.

  • Your offer

    We’ll tell you whether we’d like you to join us, as soon after your career focus day as possible. For some areas you may also need to attend an additional interview before we’re able to make an offer, but we’ll let you know if this is needed.

  • Pass our checks

    Congratulations you’ve accepted our offer! Part of our onboarding process includes checking your grades and job history, so please make sure everything is correct on your application form. We’re known for accuracy, so carrying out checks like this protects our reputation.

    What next?

    Before your start date, you may find it useful to come back for a visit. This will allow you to have a more personalised, informal chat about what to expect once you join, take a look round the office where you'll be based and meet some of your new colleagues. We also may invite you to attend an event where you can meet fellow new joiners and learn more information about your forthcoming induction.

Variations to selection process

Some of our roles have variations to the standard process, this will be communicated to you either during the application process or via your local recruiter.

International applicants for a UK vacancy

Expenses for travel from outside the UK to attend an assessment event won’t be reimbursed without prior agreement and only includes economy fares.
