Join us for an 11 month Work Placement to work within one of our Human Capital functions.

HC is our internal naming for our Human Resource department. Based across the UK our placements will give extensive insight into the HC Function.

The HC group sits within our Internal Firm Services business area and is responsible for providing generalist HC support across our business which is comprised of over 17,000 UK employees across 35 offices. The HC team acts as a liaison, advisor and facilitator between the business and specialist HC support teams, allowing PwC to operate effectively to meet its people agenda.

Your primary focus will be on supporting the team’s daily activities and workflow in order to manage the delivery of the day to day business priorities. You’ll provide operational support to one of our dedicated HC functions within one of the below teams:

  • Learning and Development
  • Student Recruitment
  • Global Mobility
  • Human Resources

Each team works to deliver on Business and People priorities in their specialist area. Preferences will be taken into consideration at interview stage and you’d be expected to demonstrate knowledge of your preferred area. You will need to demonstrate your knowledge and commitment to this team at interview stage.

Get ahead on the professional qualification front

You'll have a dedicated People Manager to help shape your development. You’ll be encouraged to keep a log of activity which can be relevant to any later Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) study. As part of the placement, you‘ll be set a project to complete over the course of the placement, giving insight into the wider firm and HC community.

Learning and development

One L&D is PwC's internal learning and development function. Our ambition is to be a world-class learning function, partnering with the business to deliver L&D which meets the needs of our people and helps deliver the Firm’s strategic priorities.
The One L&D Firmwide Curriculum Team are responsible for supporting all parts of our business in developing their people, including Assurance, Tax, Deals and Consulting). We design and deliver programmes that focus on business skills which are critical for building their self-awareness, developing successful relationships with clients, and effectively leading teams.

The L&D Business Placement will provide support to the Curriculum Leaders, Development Practitioners and Programme Implementation teams to ensure that learning programmes are planned, resourced and delivered effectively. They will be exposed to a range of programmes, work with a highly motivated team and meet client facing staff throughout their time with us.
Responsibilities include:

• Providing support to development practitioners in development activities, design, development, delivery and evaluation of L&D activities, applying best practice techniques to continuously improve the programmes
• Contributing to marketing material and communications, including the content of My Development and Spark - the internal PwC portals
• Supporting and coordinating training programmes for Firmwide delegates
• Monitoring waitlists and maintaining accurate records of programme participants
• Sourcing suitable training locations using internal and external networks
• Identifying suitable tutor/facilitators and for complex programmes ensuring that a process is in place to resource tutors /key speakers on to events
• Identifying on-site support resources, including communications with venues and suppliers e.g. onsite production /AV scheduling
• Liaison with the Customer Services Team to support their administration of the programmes effectively. This will include review of revised process manuals
• Ensuring consistent review of results throughout the evaluation process
• Contribute to measuring and reporting on the effectiveness and value of the range of programmes

Student recruitment team

The Early Identification (EID) team is part of the Student Recruitment team at PwC and we lead on a number of national talent programmes. Our aim is to build lasting relationships with students in their first year of university and engage with them throughout their studies, these students are part of the future graduate talent pipeline.  EID is responsible for the design and development, recruitment and selection and conversion for all of the following EID programmes: Summer Internships, Talent Academy, Flying Start, Women In Business, Work Placements and Insight days.
 
This role will provide support to the managers to ensure the smooth running of the EID programmes. This is a varied role that will enable you to get involved in a variety of aspects of the programmes. You will be part of a friendly and highly motivated team and will get to meet client facing staff throughout your time with us. This role will require regular travel during our busy season.
 
Responsibilities include:

  • Support recruitment activity for our Flying Start programmes, setting up assessment centres, ensuring events are staffed appropriately, assessing candidates and providing outcomes from the Assessment centres
  • Setup EID vacancies and responsible for pipeline management for all EID programmes, with weekly updates to the team
  • Act as a key point of contact for students joining EID programmes, such as managing communications and JIs
  • Supporting the offboarding process, including expenses and transfers on to further programmes, liaising with relevant teams
  • Maintain various reports relating to attendees of EID programmes and producing analysis of this data when required
  • To be the point of contact for our stakeholders to ensure all joiner data is accurate and up to date
  • Supporting on delivery of EID programmes where appropriate
  • Support with internal communications to the business
  • Sourcing staff to help with events
  • Collating feedback received from each programme
  • Attending campus events to promote EID programmes

Global mobility

PwC’s mobility vision is to invest in immediate and future mobility and inspire our people as a seamless network – to deliver quality services to our clients and each other.  The Global Mobility (GM) network facilitates the international mobility programme providing expert consulting and services that enable the achievement of this vision.
The international mobility programme supports PwC’s UK strategy to strengthen the global network, drive revenues from international investments as well as play an integral role in developing our network.  It is critical for the GM team to provide exceptional GM service to both internal clients, its international assignee population and our International Business Travellers (IBT’s).

The Global Mobility team is 18 strong who work cohesively in a supportive and collaborative environment.  This is a varied and technical HC role which has key responsibilities which support the team in Management Information (MI) reporting, database management and project management. We expect the placement to be challenging, exciting, fast paced and most of all rewarding.
Responsibilities: (may vary)


• Provision of regular and ad-hoc reports to meet the UK and global reporting needs
• Develop new methods of manipulating and presenting data where applicable
• Responsibility for coordination of cultural awareness sessions for all inbound international assignees
• Responsibility for UK International Business Traveller (IBT) reporting and data analysis
• Assist in the annual global tax compliance process and managing the collection of HMRC refunds and repayments to assignees or other PwC territories
• Working with GM, internal UK and Global assignment tax service teams, supporting them with the payment of Short Term assignees, ensuring that PwC remains compliant with UK tax laws
• Working with the internal immigration team to ensure the Firm remains compliant with UK immigration laws by creating and maintaining up to date records of the international employees in a timely and efficient manner
• During ‘busy seasons’ and for specific GM programmes there will be the opportunity to widen the support provided to GM team members to include activities such as programme induction coordination

HC Quality & Service (HC Q&S) – Business Placement Birmingham

HC Q&S are a pivotal component of the HC Service Delivery team in PwC UK. The team work closely with our outsource provider Xerox to ensure services are delivered consistently for our Human Capital Customer Services (HCCS) function.

HC Q&S are a small yet dynamic team who sit within HC.  The team handle all exceptions across HC, monitor all HC Issues and complete all HC related administration.  HC Q&S undertake Quality Analysis across multiple processes to stabilise and improve our offshore services.  The Business Placement will offer you the opportunity to support and work on projects in our wider HC Service Delivery Team

In a climate where many companies choose to outsource some or all of their services, this placement will gain you some valuable experience in outsource management.

This business placement provides the opportunity to work within a market-leading professional services firm and develop the foundations of a marketing and business development career aligned to one of our regional, industry or service line business areas. Responsibilities (may vary)

  • Undertake administration that can only be completed in the UK or not appropriate to outsource, effectively and accurately
  • Provide Project Support by undertaking User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Operational Readiness Testing (ORT)
  • Perform ongoing Quality Analysis 
  • Produce reports for daily and monthly MI for HC
  • Grant access for HC systems and regularly monitor users to keep costs minimal
  • Identify Process Improvements
  • Works effectively and in collaboration with outsource provider to help them deliver a client-focused outcome
  • Brings curiosity and challenge so that processes and work practices are continuously improved.

This large, fast-paced team cover a wide range of critical business activities within PwC; from event management, corporate hospitality, research, strategic marketing (proposition development and campaigns), through to business development, proposal support and key account management.

  • Provide support to deliver market and business development campaigns across multiple channels
  • Provide support on the best practice approach to marketing campaigns as defined by the team and strive to uphold our quality and brand standards
  • Collect and analyse short and long-term return on investment metrics on specific campaigns and track resulting client opportunities
  • Demonstrate active use of CRM system (Iris) to support business development activities, including recording notable client opportunities and actively contributing to the management information for clients

  • Work closely with the Senior Managers and Managers to execute campaigns in line with timeframes and agreed budgets
