Ben has 20 years experience working as a pensions actuary and in the last 10 years 2009 his work has focussed on advising pension clients in the area of risk transfer. He leads PwC UK’s pension risk transfer team - helping scheme sponsors and trustees to understand the risk transfer options available, and leading implementation of those projects.

Ben has advised on over 30 completed buy-ins, buy-outs and longevity swaps including acting as lead advisor on the following landmark projects:

  • £3.8bn ASDA Group Pension Scheme buy-out in 2019
  • £4.4bn buy-in for the Airways Pension Scheme in 2018
  • £250m Toshiba buy-out in 2019
  • £680m Lehman Brothers Pension Scheme buy-out in  2015;
  • £680m MNOPF buy-in in 2012, which enabled a full scheme buy-out.
