Director, PwC United Kingdom
Jayne leads our environmental tax team. She works closely with HMRC at senior levels in responding to consultations, attending working groups on the devolution of landfill tax to Scotland and Wales, and liaising with HMRC Policy in respect of industry wide environmental tax issues in connection with waste, energy and quarrying. Jayne and her team recently provided input to a carbon pricing report prepared for the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs in relation to a proposed new carbon tax, and prepared PwC’s response to the Plastic Packaging Tax consultation.
Jayne has extensive experience of providing VAT and environmental tax advice to a range of organisations including utilities, renewable power generators, landfill site operators, energy from waste plants, quarry operators, water companies and manufacturers. The environmental taxes are complex and difficult to administer, giving rise to errors and disputes. Jayne and her team assist many clients with fraud investigations, HMRC investigations and enquiries, tax disputes and litigation on landfill tax, aggregates levy, climate change levy and VAT and has a team of practising solicitors working for her on tax disputes and litigation.
Jayne joined PwC in June 2011 having spent 7 years at KPMG where she qualified as a chartered accountant and chartered tax adviser and was part of the specialist environmental tax team as well as advising clients on VAT. Before retraining in tax and accountancy, Jayne spent 8 years as an Environment Manager in industry. Her deep understanding of operational practice helps Jayne to add real commercial value to clients.
