Matt specialises in advising clients on the financial, accounting and economic aspects of disputes. He has particular experience in the quantification of damages and loss for the purpose of international arbitration and litigation. His work has covered disputes in various industries including construction, energy, telecoms, real estate and others.

Matt frequently leads multi-disciplinary teams in complex disputes requiring deep expertise of a particular competency, industry or geographical area. He allies his expertise in disputes with the wide range of skills and experience available across the PwC network, producing joint or solo expert reports as the circumstances demand.

He spent four years with the firm in Dubai and retains a focus on disputes arising in the Middle East, Africa and other emerging markets.

  • Valuation of lost profits associated with a terminated joint venture agreement for distribution of consumers products in Ethiopia; (ICC Arbitration)
  • Expert report on behalf of a private equity fund related to a claim against the vendors for an investment in the construction industry. The claim related to alleged fraudulent misrepresentation and various alleged warranty breaches; (LCIA Arbitration)
  • Assessment of lost profits arising from a delay in the construction of a major mixed use development in the UAE; (ad-hoc Arbitration under UNCITRAL rules)
  • Expert report on behalf of the Respondent to a claim for damages arising from a breach of warranty following the sale of a gas fired power plant; (SIAC Arbitration)
  • Advising a financial services company through an expert determination in relation to disputed completion accounts for an acquired subsidiary (purchase price of £1.6 billion).
