Partner, PwC United Kingdom
Tim is a partner in our Economics and Policy team and has over 30 years experience as a business economist, advising clients on cases and issues in the areas of competition, regulation, litigation and finance. He has extensive experience with the UK Office of Fair Trading (OFT) and Competition Commission (CC).
Tim has acted as an expert witness in competition and related cases, including giving oral evidence in arbitration, competition appeals and public inquiry contexts.
Tim specialises particularly in market study and market investigation cases, having led our advice on many of the most high profile investigations. Tim has worked with sector specialists to provide comprehensive support to clients on inquiries including: mobile phones; payment protection insurance; pay-TV movies; North East buses; SME banking; aggregates; private healthcare; unauthorised overdraft charges; statutory audit services; and new cars.
Tim is an expert in financial economics, applying this in a regulatory context to advise regulated businesses and regulators on the appropriate cost of capital for regulated price setting; and in a competition context, to determine whether prices and profits are at reasonable levels, and hence consistent with an effectively competitive market. He has applied such analysis in the context of market investigations; predation and margin squeeze cases; and abuse of dominance cases.
