Empowering future Women Leaders in Insurance Technology
The current low levels of female representation in boardrooms across financial services is concerning. A report we produced with TheCityUK into the Future of Financial and Professional Services highlights the important role insurance plays in society, and identifies talent diversity and technology as two areas critical to the future success of the UK insurance sector. The move to more technology based distribution channels as a means of improving customer engagement is considered by many insurance businesses to be the key to future success, so we’ve turned our diversity and inclusion commitments into actions by introducing a number of initiatives designed to bring our insurance community together and empower our colleagues to be part of the change.
This Women in Insurance Technology initiative was officially launched in March 2018 as the first financial services industry-wide programme at PwC UK to empower our future women leaders in insurance and technology. Our objectives are to attract the best people to work in technology within the insurance industry, inspire a new generation to consider insurance and technology as a career choice, and retain and support the progression of talented women in the UK. This initiative is tied into closely to the clear five-point action plan we have in place to drive diversity and inclusion across PwC UK.

I’m originally from Texas (hey y’all!) and have worked with insurers in Europe and the US with large scale digital and core system transformation projects for over 10 years. I love exploring the ever growing possibilities with insurers - from a new product proposition or transitioning to Agile ways of working or how to incorporate emerging technologies into their ecosystem. I am passionate about creating and fostering an inclusive #oneteam environment across programmes and organisations to break down silos and barriers so teams can work together creatively and productively to respond to business and technology challenges.
I'm a Senior Manager at PwC UK, Financial Services, responsible for developing and driving Insurance/investment management, consulting propositions, services and opportunities, working closely with industry leadership team and senior clients across all line of service. Was awarded ''Best Start-Up'' at one of the Venture Creation Weekends at Cambridge Judge Business School in 2016 in developing a wearable technology for children with epilepsy. Prior joining PwC I worked at Microsoft Headquarters for ten years at various senior roles. I hold Executive MBA degree from Cambridge Judge Business School and MSc degree in International Management from BI Norwegian Business School. I'm very proud of the way our insurance practice has really started to embrace building technology into everything we do and I look forward to working with others to continue to do this in an inclusive way.
After completing my degree focused on women's history, I wanted to try a new area and joined FS Technology.
I help clients develop their Agile capabilities and support their delivery.
I've been inspired by the willingness of female leaders in the firm to teach and support new members of staff, and am passionate about being a part of that. I also work as part of the firm’s DAWN network and lead our FS Salesforce pro-bono initiative.
I have recently joined our FS Consulting practice working on projects where we are helping clients with their transformation initiatives, underpinned by implementation of new technologies. Originally from St. Petersburg in Russia, I worked in the insurance sector for many years in the UK and globally and would love to see our sector being an attractive place to advance careers. I am passionate about sponsoring and mentoring talented young women and men who are on their career journey, having also balanced busy work and family life. I am involved in the Elite Athlete and 30% club cross company mentoring programmes as well as other internal and external networks.
Working in the consulting for over 15 years, I have developed a unique blend of skills in insurance digital transformation. Insurance is very much my sweet spot, and I hope to make a difference not just company by company, but also to the industry overall, as collectively insurance companies grapple with changing customer expectations and the impact of technology. On a personal level, I am actively supporting the development of technology careers of female team members, because I don’t think there are enough female leaders – not in insurance, and certainly not in technology.
Victoria works with financial services clients to them shape customer centred propositions and transformation programmes.
She brings together expertise in customer experience design, business requirements gathering and analytics to help clients design and deliver large scale, digitally enabled transformation programmes.
5 years ago, I never saw myself working in Technology or Financial Services, and now my focus is helping insurance companies and asset managers to keep up with the ever-changing needs of their customers through the use of technology and enterprise architecture techniques. And I love it! I am really passionate about inspiring more women to start their careers in technology and financial services, to bring more perspectives and close the gender gap.
I joined PwC following qualifying as a Barrister and working in the Insurance Industry, focused on technical and operational claims management. Most recently, I am seconded to the Startupbootcamp InsurTech Colab program as the Industry Lead where I work with Insurance Partners and startup's to address real business challenges with emerging technologies.
Passionate about gender equality, I am the large events lead for PwC’s Gender Balance Network and a HeForShe champion, committed to calling out bad behaviour and to continue the equality conversation through great initiatives such as the Women in Insurance Technology community.
Veronika is a Senior Manager in PwC Technology Consulting with previous consulting experience gained at PA Consulting Group, where she was a Principal Consultant, and Fujitsu, where she completed the Technology Graduate scheme.
She has worked across a number of sectors, spending much of her time in recent years building experience in financial services, particularly insurance.
Her expertise lies in delivering large and complex IT transformation programmes, specifically focusing on developing innovative IT strategies and IT operating models that achieve enhanced operational performance as well as realise clients’ strategic goals.
Deepti works in PwC’s Assurance practice. She has more than 10 years experience specialising in the Insurance sector.
Deepti is a huge advocate for Inclusion in the workplace. She has a leading role with PwC’s Gender Balance Network. Deepti is also a committee member of the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation which seeks to raise funds and volunteer time from across the industry for important social causes.
